For Developers
Supported Functionality
Edlink's integration with Google Workspace provides essential rostering and Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities, streamlining authentication and management for educational platforms.
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Edlink fully supports Single Sign-On (SSO) via Google Workspace, allowing people to log in with their existing Google credentials. This ensures a seamless login experience across Edlink-powered platforms without requiring additional accounts.
Key Points:
- Google Workspace functions as the Identity Provider (IdP).
- People within the school's Google Workspace domain can access connected applications through Edlink.
Rostering
Edlink facilitates rostering by synchronizing people from Google Workspace. This enables the management of people (students, teachers, and staff) within Edlink-supported applications. However, the integration does not include class or course enrollment data.
Limitations:
- No role-based data (e.g., teacher, student) is available through this integration.
- Class or course enrollment information is not provided.
- The integration strictly manages people data without connections to classroom or coursework features.
Primary Use Cases
- Platforms that need streamlined SSO for user authentication.
- Applications that require synchronization of user directories without course or enrollment data.
- Systems focusing on user management rather than class-based operations.
Additional Notes
- If you are looking for features such as coursework management, class structures, or grade syncing, please refer to the Google Classroom Integration Documentation.
