Connecting SFTP Sources

Step 1: Start the Integration Flow in Edlink

1. Click the integration link provided by your learning app.
2. Create an Edlink account if you don't already have one.

   If you've connected an app to Edlink before, log in with your existing account.

3. Navigate to the SIS tab, then click SFTP from the list of available data sources.
4. Choose your preferred data storage region.

Option A: Have Edlink Pull Data from My School's SFTP Server

1. Select the box that says I want Edlink to pull data from my school's SFTP server.
2. Enter your SFTP Host URL in the Host URL field.
3. Enter your SFTP Port (this is typically 22 on the school's own SFTP server).
4. Enter your SFTP username and password in the SFTP Credential fields.
5. Enter the path to the folder where your uploaded files are located in the Folder Path field. (Use / if your files are in the root of your SFTP server.)
6. Choose whether your file format will be OneRoster or a custom format.

Option B: Push My Data to an Edlink SFTP Server

1. Select the option to push data to Edlink's SFTP server. Edlink will generate credentials for you during onboarding.
   Server Connection Details:
   Host: sftp.ed.link
   Port: 2022
   Username: Use the credentials shown in the onboarding flow
   Password: Use the credentials shown in the onboarding flow
2. Choose whether your file format will be OneRoster or a custom format.

Port note: Edlink-hosted SFTP (sftp.ed.link) uses port 2022. Port 22 in Option A refers to a typical customer-hosted SFTP server, not the Edlink host.

Retrieving or Resetting SFTP Credentials

If you need to look up the credentials for an existing SFTP source (including after a suspected compromise):

1. Sign in to the Edlink dashboard for the team that owns the source.
2. Open the source and go to Settings.
3. Review the Host, Port, Username, and Password fields for that source.

If credentials may have been compromised, treat this as a security incident: stop using the exposed password, update any systems that still push or pull with the old value, and contact Edlink support so we can help you rotate access safely.

Step 2: Complete the Integration

1. Click Validate Configuration, then click Continue Setup once your configuration is validated.

Well Done!

Your SFTP source is now connected to Edlink. Once validated, your organization's data will sync with the Edlink dashboard within 24 hours.
