The Edlink Public Data Initiative aims to do what we do best, but for public information about learning institutions and educational vendors. We are creating a unified and organized dataset of this information.
Use Cases
So why even use this? What is it for? Well in your case, as an education platform, you may need a static reference to an institution for many reasons. Some examples being:
- Allow users to search for their institution
- Eliminate duplicate organizations in your system
- Enrich and improve your reporting
- Group freemium users by organization
Edlink ourselves have needed and used this to help schools onboard. It can be easier and quicker to simply search for your school and prevents duplicate signups across that orginization.

How to Get Started
First make sure you have setup a team in Edlink. Afterwards follow the setup instructions for the Public Data API on the Getting Started page of the dashboard. It will walk you through getting a Publishable API Key and setting up your own company's profile.
Once you have a key you can choose to either use our enpoints directly by reading the Public Data API Reference or by adding one of the Public Data UI Widgets into your site.
