For Companies & Schools

The Data Browser

One of the most common things that companies do in Edlink is just browsing the data. This is done through the Data Browser, which is a powerful tool that allows you to filter, and search through the data coming from the LMS or SIS. The data browser is available to both district admins and company team members.

Accessing the Data Browser

You can find the data browser by clicking on any integration on the Integrations tab in the Edlink dashboard. Once you are in the integration, you will see a section of tabs called "Browse Data" in the left hand navigation menum. Clicking on this tab will allow you to preview the desired entity.

There are filters available at the top that allow you to filter entities by property. For example, you can filter people by their role or email.

Previewing Data

When you click on an entity (e.g. a person) in the data browser, a drawer will open up from the right side of the page. This drawer will show you a preview of the data for that entity, as well as a bunch of other useful information.

For example, when you click on a person you can find:

  • All of the attributes about the person (e.g. name, email, etc.)
  • The products that the person is licensed to access
  • All of the external IDs that are associated with the person (e.g. SIS ID)
  • A JSON representation of the data that is being sent to your platform
  • The person's class enrollments
  • Recent API requests that you made on behalf of the person
  • Events related to that person's data (e.g. a field was updated)
  • A button to impersonate the person in your platform (by initiating an SSO request)

You can also set Data Overrides from this drawer by clicking on any of the fields to edit them. These overrides are persistent and will not be overwritten by new data from the LMS or SIS.

Downloading Data

Please make sure that you dispose of the data that you download in accordance with your company's data retention policies. Edlink is not responsible for the handling of data that you download from the platform.

Occasionally, you may want to download a version of the dataset as a CSV spreadsheet for further analysis. Edlink makes this easy to do via our dashboard. When you download data, you will be given an option to download the current "view" (i.e. the data with your current filters applied) or the entire dataset. At the current time, only the first 10,000 records will be downloaded.
