Safety Thresholds

To prevent accidental changes or deletions, we've introduced something called safety thresholds. These thresholds act like protective barriers, giving you control over actions that could impact your LMS data. This article explains what safety thresholds are and how to set them up to keep your data secure.

What Are Safety Thresholds?

Imagine safety thresholds as checkpoints that prevent big changes from happening right away in your LMS. Instead of immediate changes, we'll notify you first. This notification gives you the chance to review and decide if the changes should go through. Assignment and grade passback functionality will continue as usual during this review time.

When Do Safety Thresholds Come into Play?

Here are some situations when safety thresholds might step in:

  • New School Year or Semester: When a new year or semester starts, big data changes might happen accidentally.
  • Managing Lots of Data: If there's a big cleanup or a lot of data added or removed, safety thresholds can help.
  • Fixing Mistakes: If data is deleted by mistake, safety thresholds can help you get it back.
  • Changing Data Rules: When sharing rules or changes are made in Edlink, they could lead to major data changes.

How to Configure Safety Thresholds

Customizing safety thresholds is easy:

  1. Go to Integrations: Start by clicking the Integrations tab in Edlink.
  2. Select the Flow Integration: Pick the Flow integration you want to set thresholds for.
  3. Access Flow Settings: Click on the Flow Settings button in the integration overview.
  4. Find Safety Thresholds: Scroll down until you see the Safety Thresholds part.
  5. Set Thresholds: You can set different thresholds for creating, updating, and deleting. Use numbers from 0 to 100. For example, if you set a deletion threshold to 10, we'll step in if more than 10% of your data is about to be deleted.

What Happens When a Threshold Is Reached?

When a threshold is about to be crossed, here's what goes on:

  1. Pause on Changes: We won't make roster changes in your LMS.
  2. You Get Notified: We'll send you an email to let you know about the potential changes.
  3. You Decide: Take your time to review the changes. You can approve them or fix the underlying issue.
