FAQ for School IT Admins
Q. Is this Edlink or EdLink 360?
- We’re Edlink (not EdLink or EdLink 360), based in Austin, TX. We help edtech companies with integrations. We started a few years ago to provide secure integrations for learning institutions by acting as a middleman. EdLink 360, on the other hand, is a childcare assistance program in Louisiana.
Q. Why is Edlink asking to connect our district's LMS, SIS, or identity and access management provider?
- Edlink’s clients are edtech companies that build integrations with us. We help them connect to 25+ school data providers through our integrations. This process starts with the Edlink onboarding flow. If you received an “integration link,” it starts the onboarding process. Once completed, Edlink can securely pass approved data to the new vendor.
Q. Why am I connecting with Edlink instead of our new learning tool?
- You are, in effect, connecting to your new learning tool through Edlink. Managing integrations is complex due to different data management practices. Edlink solves this by providing secure integration management, allowing edtech companies to outsource this task. This means learning institutions can enjoy integrated functionality without long wait times.
Below is a visual explanation of how learning institutions can let vendors connect via Edlink's onboarding flow.
- Vendor integrates to Edlink.
- Vendor sends an integration link to the learning institution.
- Learning institution completes the onboarding flow (~5 minutes).
- Within 24 hours, data syncs between the vendor and the learning institution.
Q. Can I trust Edlink?
- Yes, we've helped over 100 edtech companies securely connect to 4,000+ learning institutions, supporting more than 4 million people globally. We're open to signing DPAs and discussing our security practices to build trust.
Q. Is Edlink secure?
- We are undergoing a SOC 2 Type II security audit to demonstrate our commitment to data protection. We comply with FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, and other security laws. We offer options to meet global data sovereignty laws. For specific security questions, check our articles or contact us.
Q. How can I secure personally identifiable information (PII)?
- IT Admins can control data sharing through the Edlink dashboard by setting rules and limitations. We recommend discussing potential impacts with the vendor before setting restrictions. We're also available to guide you through the process.
Q. If I have an issue with our learning tool, who should I reach out to?
- Contact the vendor first. Any issue we can solve needs to be identified by the vendor. However, you’re always welcome to reach out to us via our support page.
Q. How much does Edlink cost?
- Edlink services are free for learning institutions since edtech companies are our clients.
Q. Do educators and students have to make an Edlink account?
- Nope! Only IT Admins at learning institutions need an Edlink account to use our services.
