About EdLoop:
EdLoop is K-12 feedback infrastructure that turns authentic classroom work into actionable insights. Founded by Detroit-based educator Chris Waston, a 10-year classroom veteran, EdLoop closes the feedback loop between the classroom, families, and school leaders.
EdLoop makes student learning visible over time by turning work like exit tickets, quizzes, essays, and projects into insights that inform instruction, supports school leaders, and helps families understand student progress. It works alongside the tools schools already use.
About the relationship:
EdLoop and Edlink first connected when Chris Waston, Founder and CEO of EdLoop, found Edlink online and created a free developer account.
At the time, Chris was preparing for summer pilots. With school partnerships already underway, including University Prep Schools, EdLoop needed a reliable way to bring students, teachers, classes, and enrollments into the platform. Chris was also speaking with other schools that ran different combinations of systems, including PowerSchool and Google Classroom.
That raised a bigger question: how could a small team support every system its schools rely on without starting a new integration project each time EdLoop added a partner?
Rather than build that internally, Chris looked for an integration partner that could grow with EdLoop. Pilot partners have since seen 90% engagement, and EdLoop has received support from the City of Detroit Mayor’s Office and the Rocket Community Fund.
“We’re a lean team, and every new school brought a new set of systems,” Chris Waston, Founder and CEO of EdLoop said. “Edlink gave us one connection that works alongside PowerSchool, Google Classroom, and whatever our next partner school uses. That means we can say yes to more schools without rebuilding from scratch.”
Through Edlink's Unified API, EdLoop can focus on using PowerSchool (or 25+ other systems) for capabilities like rostering and enrich this data from systems like Google Classroom. As EdLoop grows, the same integration layer gives the team a path to support additional LMS, SIS, and identity providers without building and maintaining every connection from scratch.
With Edlink, EdLoop can:
- Automate rostering from PowerSchool, including the students, teachers, classes, and enrollments needed to get learning institutions up and running
- Onboard learning institutions quickly through an out-of-the-box onboarding flow
- Support learning institutions using different education systems through one Unified API
- Spend less engineering time building and maintaining integrations as EdLoop scales
By partnering with Edlink, EdLoop can keep its resources focused on closing the feedback loop for students, educators, leaders, and families, while Edlink handles the integration infrastructure needed to help the platform grow.
“Integration should be invisible,” Waston said. “When the data just shows up where it needs to, teachers get a clearer picture of every student, and families finally see the progress happening in the classroom.”
