New Data Storage Regions: Germany 🇩🇪 and Australia 🇦🇺
What are Data Storage Regions?
To comply with data sovereignty laws, some schools and universities require vendors to store student data in a particular region. Even if it's not the law of the land, many schools will adopt this policy as they believe it will provide more security in the long term.
Edlink stores personally-identifiable information (PII) to deliver our API functionality, and that too must be stored in the correct geographic region. To make this as painless as possible for companies and their schools, we allow school administrators to select their desired region during onboarding.
After a region is selected, all personally-identifiable information for that school or university is stored in the correct region – geographically isolated from data in other regions.
What regions are available now?
We currently have 4 storage regions available to all clients. There is no additional cost to having schools store their data in these regions.
- 🇺🇸 United States (Iowa)
- 🇨🇦 Canada (Toronto)
- 🇩🇪 Germany (Frankfurt)
- 🇦🇺 Australia (Sydney)
If you have questions about data privacy or if you have clients in a region that's not listed above, feel free to reach out to your Edlink client success manager.
