For these reason, we're proud to introduce two-factor authentication for school administrators and developers. When enabled, two-factor authentication provides an additional (and very secure) layer of defense that can protect your account against potential threats.

How To Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

Edlink implements the industry standard in two-factor authentication (2FA). It is exactly the same as any two-factor authentication solutions that you may have already set up on your email account, social media profiles, or online banking. This method of 2FA requires that you have a desktop or mobile application that supports the creation of one-time keys. Some popular options are Authy by Twilio, Google Authenticator, 1Password, and LastPass.

Once you have installed one of these applications, Edlink will present you with a QR code. Scan the QR code using your new application and it will present you with a series of six random digits. Enter these six digits into Edlink, to confirm that the QR code has been scanned correctly.

In the future, when you attempt to log in, Edlink will prompt you for your six digits. Please keep in mind that the digits will change every 30 seconds. In fact, that's the key to two-factor authentication – even if a hacker is able to guess your password, they will still not be able to access your account without direct access to your mobile phone.
